Lancaster LIFE Welcomes New Staff Members

Sara Vergis has joined Lancaster LIFE as the new Medical Social Worker. Sara comes to LIFE with 25 years of experience in the social services field. She has a masters degree in Social work, is a licensed clinical social worker and also served as a field instructor for social work students.
Sara recently moved from Hamden Connecticut, where she was employed by the Agency on Aging of South Central Connecticut as a clinical coordinator to oversee the Home Care Program for Elders. Sara has been working with Elders for the past 18 years providing community based services for individuals to continue to live at home. Sara is an avid advocate and passionate about helping Elders to AGE AT HOME with dignity and purpose. She hopes to one day achieve her goal of becoming an elder care attorney.
Sara lives in Lancaster with her husband, son and daughter. She loves to read, garden and watch soccer and basketball.
Sara states that, “LIFE will give me the opportunity to continue to help many more individuals remain safely in their own homes with independence and dignity. I am looking forward to working with a group of passionate and dedicated professionals at LIFE Lancaster.” Fellow LIFE staff appreciate Sara’s wealth of knowledge and experience in insuring the highest quality of life for those we will serve.

Katherine Dunbar has joined the LIFE family as the Center Services Manager. She brings a wealth of experience and passion to her new role. She formerly worked at Normandie Ridge Senior Living Community where she was an Activity Assistant, the Director of Therapeutic Recreation and than the Personal Care Home Administrator. She is a certified Activities Director and a Certified Dementia Practitioner.
Katherine is a graduate of the University of Delaware with a degree in biology education. She taught high school science until her children were born, at which time she opted to be a stay at home Mom who kept busy as a volunteer. She volunteered as a pet therapist in various nursing and rehab facilities crediting this experience for introducing her to the calling to work with the elderly population.
“The most exciting part of working in the LIFE program is the opportunity to provide a meaningful and empowering experience at the Day Center then watch the participants have the ability to return to the homes they love at the end of the day. “
Along with her experience, Katherine brings an exuberant enthusiasm that has spread to her co-workers and will excite the individuals who attend the LIFE Adult Day Program.
